The act of participation in a DockDogs® event signifies understanding of the Rules and Policies and an agreement to abide by the DockDogs Rules and Policies.
Instructions for entering the
IceBreaker Event
1. There will be no dogs allowed through the front
doors of the Hall or in any of the foyers of the Edmonton EXPO Centre. All
animals must enter and exit the Hall through the back doors by the overhead
entry labelled A4 at the back of the EXPO Centre. Animals are not allowed to
roam the Show floor. When animals do leave for breaks, and to get to and from
the doors, they must be leashed at all times. We do not want anyone (animal or
human) getting injured!
1. a) For those of you bringing animals, please be
familiar with this procedure for bringing them in the back doors. As it may be
cold over the weekend, we do not want any animals being exposed to the elements
for too long.
If you have an animal with you, please proceed
with your vehicle to the back of Hall A. Let the parking attendants know that
you have an animal for drop off at the back of Hall A. You will
temporarily park in the lot behind Hall A. You will enter through the
entrance beside the overhead called A4. You will then drop your animal off at
the IceBreaker event area, leaving it either properly contained (see point 2) or
with another person in the area. Obtain your wristband from DockDogs
Registration then return to your vehicle, and park in the main parking lot. You
can then walk back in through the main doors of the Edmonton EXPO Centre and
come through the front of the Hall, as you no longer have an animal with you.
To make this process as easily as possible, please
ensure you pick up your wristband at the IceBreaker event registration when you
arrive as you will need it going through the doors on Saturday and Sunday.
2. If you do not have someone to hold your dog on
Saturday or Sunday morning, please bring a kennel/container/cage so that your
dog(s) is(are) not left unattended and uncontained at any time while you unload
or leave to park your vehicle. Leaving the dog unattended on a leash is not
acceptable, even if the leash is tied to something.
3. Just a friendly reminder that there is a
designated doggy rest area, and there are poop bags there to clean up after your
animal. If any animals have an accident (it happens!), it is the handler's
responsibility to find the appropriate tools to clean up as soon as possible. We
are available at the IceBreaker event registration all weekend long if you have
any questions.
4. One wristband will be provided for every
competitor for the duration of the weekend. They are waterproof, so you do not
have to forgo showering. If you need a replacement, talk to registration
We thank you for your understanding in these
matters, and hope you have a wonderful experience at the Alberta DockDogs
IceBreaker and the Edmonton Pet Expo!
